Dr. Shoko Emily Abe is a surgeon who cares for patients with breast cancer and other breast diseases. She takes a multidisciplinary approach to breast cancer treatment. Specializing in breast-conserving surgery, she uses plastic surgery techniques to reshape the breast and scar-hiding techniques, and she performs nipple- and skin-sparing mastectomies.

Abe's research interests include improvement in surgical techniques and new treatments for breast cancer.

Abe earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College. She completed a residency in general surgery at Drexel University and a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Levine Cancer Institute.

Abe has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations that focus on cancer care, including the Bay Area Tumor Institute and Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation. A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, she is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and Society of Surgical Oncology.
